I've been thinking a lot about Disgaea and, in fact, a lot about Nippon Ichi Software's games recently.
There is an optional boss in the first two Disgaea games called Overlord Prier (pronounced 'Pri-ei', like it's French) who is described by the characters as "A Human who started to learn about darkness in order to gain power and eventually became a powerful Overlord".
However, the truth is that Prier was once a normal human girl who chose to fight demons so she would someday become a maiden of light (she was the main character of a game called La Pucelle). As it turns out, she becomes a Demon Overlord in the Bad Ending of the game (as you would expect, considering she was a Demon Slayer).
Prier isn't the only crossover case.
Marjorly (another optional boss) is also a crossover character.
Then you also get characters from Disgaea appearing in other games, like Makai Kingdom and Phantom Brave. (Also characters from said games have appeared as DLC characters in recent Disgaea games, apart from Marona (Phantom Brave) who appeared as a secret character in the post-story of Disgaea 3, as well as a DLC character in others)
Also, there has been a unique crossover case:
Asagi.
Asagi was set to appear in a new game called Makai Wars [Pending]. As you can guess from the '[Pending]' the game was scrapped.
As such she has appeared in the three most recent Disgaea games (Disgaea 3, the spin-off Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? and the PSP port Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days) as a running gag character. Basically she appears in the games complaining about the fact that she doesn't have her own game (she made this most apparent in the Prinny game's second story mode - where she complained that the Mascot Character (Prinny) was given his own game but she wasn't).
The reason why I brought this up is just because I felt like pointing it all out.
I quite like the way that Nippon Ichi has designed the whole story behind the Makai series (and I quite enjoy the comedy that stems from it).
Go Go Nippon Ichi! Continue to make our jaws drop in awe!

On a side note.
About La Pucelle:
Nippon Ichi Software is making a remake of it for PSP.
It appears that the game is going to receive a huge overhaul.
1 - The character's battle animations are getting upgraded. (Also they're getting extra moves from what I've seen)
2 - There are now "Team Specials" which are special attacks that can be performed by two or more story characters attacking in unison.
3 - Currently confirmed are Fallen Angel Flonne and Laharl making guest appearances. (I find this a little weird, because by my own estimates there are a good 500+ years gap between La Pucelle and Disgaea)
4 - Now this is the major shocker: Demon Overlord Prier (the optional boss from the first two Disgaea games) makes an appearance as a separate character from normal Prier. (I have also seen images of a character who looks a little like Prier but who wears a nun-like outfit, whether or not this is another 'future Prier' from a good ending is unknown to me at the moment).

Reason: Forgot to mention: the new La Pucelle game is going to be titled "La Pucelle: Ragnarok"

Only three weeks from today and Disgaea 2: DHD should be getting released in Europe.
My opinion about the release date is split:
Part of me feels that it took too long to localise for Europe (it was released in North America on September 9th).
The other part of me hopes that during the long wait NIS America has managed to sort out all of the glitches in the downloadable content. The last thing I want to happen is to download Pleinair or Overlord Pram and find that they're still bugged as hell.
In any case, I won't be downloading anything for a while; I can't connect to the wireless internet here in University with my PSP because I need my username and password.

Disgaea 4 Announced!!!
o_o
-_-
0_0!!!
Disgaea 4 has been confirmed to be in development.
No details as of yet, other than the fact that it is in development due to financial problems at NIS that is causing the company to "bleed money" as one internet-based source described.
Other Stuff:
D2: DHD DLC has yet to be released in Europe (damn it!).
La Pucelle: Ragnarok still has yet to be confirmed if it is going to get an English release or not (damn it!!).
Prinny 2: Dawn of the great Pantsu War!! hits Japanese shelves on the 25th of March (and looks ****ing awesome!!! *fanboy squealing*).

It's commonplace for a gaming series to have several crossovers, just like the tales of series having more then just one parody or crossover.
Furthermore, Super Console Wars is coming up on the Ps3...
Ruwii has my vote, even though the entire game looks like fanservice for the absent minded otaku. On that note, it shouldn't be too bad if nippon is helping with it.
Banpresto, sony, and sega have their part in it as well. Still voting for Ruwii because of how simply cute she is.

lol.
I just typed in "Super Console Wars" in a google image search and found pictures of Xbox360/PS3 game cases with "SuperSmash Bros Console Wars" written on them.
On another note, the more I look for details on this "Super Console Wars" the more I begin to think that the idea was just an April fools joke that has gone on longer than it should have.
However, type in "Super Dimension Game Neptune" into google and you get some more promising results.
(On another message board site, someone stated that the true name of the game is "Super Dimension Game Neptune" - hence I recommend searching for that).
Furthermore, NIS is represented in the game as a girl with the Hero Prinny colour scheme.
...I still have my doubts about this being genuine.

Link to the "Super Dimension Game Neptune" official site.
...It is official.
Apparently they're also looking for a company to publish the game in the west.
I still can't help but wonder why the game is a PS3 exclusive. The fact that the X360 and Wii are inferenced (not directly mentioned, but neither is the PS3) would surely imply that it's a cross-platform game.
Although the Wii is lacking compared to the other two in terms of graphics, the visuals I've seen could very easily be emulated on the Wii.
